A visit in East Melbourne

We spent Sunday with another couple we met on the Russia trip, Sharon and Robert.

Robert picked us up at the hostel Sunday morning and took us to their house on the east side of Melbourne.

They took us out for a drive in the area. Here Susan and Robert are enjoying our walk in the William Ricketts Sanctuary on Mt Dandenong.
It was a fascinating garden, full of sculptures, that had been Mr Ricketts home for many years.

The garden had a theme of preserving man's relationship with both nature and God. There were two types of beings depicted. These smaller ones could have been the native people of Australia or, as I would like to think, they could represent the elemental spirits which I felt were there in great numbers too.

These ones looked like they were the Gods. We didn't get any information from the center so could only speculate. I did like the energy of the place though.

On the way back we stopped to see if we could see the little steam train for tourists crossing on the wooden trestle. Robert had an internet capable phone and looked up the train times and we decided it would be too long a wait.

Later Robert made a gourmet lamb supper for us and we spent the night there. It was good to see Sharon hobbling around on her own steam with a single crutch after recovering from a very messy broken leg three months ago.
This morning Robert dropped us at the train on his way to work and we are off to Sydney again.
Goodbye to Melbourne and the folks there. We enjoyed sharing time with you.
