Today we drove the Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road is something over 300 miles long along the South Coast west of Melbourne. We travelled over half of it before we turned inland. The road hugged the coast and the water was always in view. It was breathtaking.

We made several stops along the way but it was too cold to enjoy the water.

A picture of serenity.

Once we turned inland we stopped to see some Koalas and parrots in the wild. The birds have learned to come to people with seeds in their hands.

We then visited a temperate rain forest. Here you see the tour group going through.

Shortly after we left the forest our bus broke down. We were stranded on the road for over 3 hours. We were stopped beside a field and we were all out of the bus enjoying the sun. Soon a group of about 40 cows had gathered in the corner of the fence beside us. A car passed by and seeing a tour group stopped there pulled over and got out with their cameras. They photographed the cows as well as themselves with the cows. I guess they thought our tour had stopped for that.

The country at our breakdown spot was beautiful.
These are a few of the rock formations known as the 12 Apostles.
