Last day in Brisbane

Yesterday morning seems such a long time ago. An overnight bus ride will do that to you.

We walked downtown in Brisbane to explore some more and I thought I should have one more picture of these lilac colored trees, which I snapped from the overpass.

This is a foot bridge across the river.

We were heading for the art gallery on the other side.

A view down the bridge.

At the foot of the bridge on the other side we entered the gallery.

A popular exhibit on Valentino was attracting a lot of attention. It was a history of his designs which appeared in films from the 40's to the present. I couldn't help thinking that Pearl would have loved to have seen it.

The picture below was in the members lounge. I shot it from the floor above.

After the gallery we had an hour to pick up our bags and get over to the 4:00 PM bus so we had to pass on the Ferris wheel. Just as well because it was terribly windy that morning.

The bus trip was 15 hours this time.

They generally stop about every 4 hours for us to have a bathroom break and get coffee and munchies but this time the replacement driver didn't show up so they had to call one in and we waited an hour for him to show up.

Once we got underway again there was no more stopping at all and we managed to recover most of the lost time. This was good for the bus companies pride of timeliness but bad for my ankles which became quite puffy by morning when we arrived in Newcastle.

Those are very long bus rides! Have you considered using the train instead?
When my brother was in Aus with his daughter and Tina they used trains almost exclusively.
How are your feet holding up?

We had a bus pass from Cairns to Melbourne for something over $300. You book the segments as you go along, stopping whereever you like, and never have to pay again. It was perfect for doing the coast.
One more long trip tomorrow and then we are going to be using trains and planes again.

My feet are getting better every day. I can walk as much as I want now.
